Visit to the farm and a look at the hens

The AFFA workshop series is officially underway after a wonderful morning workshop Nov 7th in the Ohio Valley. Local Artist and Crafts-person, Fenn Martin opened his studio to 6 keen participants for a sculptural exploration of Violetta the Hen. Violetta sat very still as participants analyzed proportions and textures and produced many one-quarter-scale facsimiles. The morning conversation wondered to topics of chicken feeds, laying as well as breeds of chickens.

The AFFA (Artists and Families Fostering the Arts) group is the brainchild of Nancy Turniwan (AKA Miss Nancy). The group aims to host a variety of focused workshops in a variety of media to young students who desire to learn more about the Arts. The workshops will be offered in local community centers and Artist’s studios around Antigonish County.
